Rehabilitation Device for Wheelchairs

Forced leg movement
The aid gives the patient the opportunity to keep their muscles, joints, and tendons in constant motion, thereby preventing muscle atrophy and other tendon or joint-related conditions.

Base frame
An optional base frame can be ordered, which allows exercises to be performed at home or in any space-limited environment.

Easy installation
Nordest Plus attaches easily to the existing holes on the wheelchair and therefore does not damage the current fittings.

FAQ
NEP is designed for people with limited or impaired mobility who use a wheelchair for their daily movement. Anyone who needs to stay active despite not being able to walk – whether due to a permanent disability, injury recovery, or temporary condition – can benefit from NEP. It gives users the ability to keep their leg muscles, joints, and tendons moving regularly. This device is ideal for individual wheelchair users at home, and it’s also a great aid in rehabilitation and physiotherapy centers where patients require continuous movement therapy.
With NEP, you can perform a gentle cycling exercise for your legs while sitting in your wheelchair. The device includes pedals that you can turn with your hands (much like pedaling a bike with your arms). As you rotate the hand pedals, NEP’s mechanism will move your legs in a pedaling motion. This means you’re exercising both your arms and legs at the same time, giving you a balanced workout. If you have difficulty pedaling by hand, a caregiver or therapist can assist by pushing your wheelchair forward – this movement will also cause the NEP pedals (and your legs) to move. In either case, your legs get the necessary movement and exercise. These exercises help strengthen muscles, improve circulation, and maintain joint flexibility in the lower body, all with a simple motion while you sit comfortably.
No, not at all – NEP will not damage your wheelchair. The device is engineered to attach safely to your wheelchair’s frame using existing holes or attachment points (for example, points where accessories or anti-tip bars might attach). It doesn’t require any drilling, clamps, or permanent fixtures. Once attached, NEP stays securely in place without putting stress on the wheelchair’s structure. You don’t have to remove any parts of your wheelchair to use it. When you’re finished exercising, you can easily detach NEP, and your wheelchair remains exactly as it was. In short, NEP is wheelchair-friendly and was specifically created to be used without altering or harming your chair in any way.
Yes, NEP is designed to be adaptable to different body sizes. Our standard NEP model works effectively for many users and is optimized for an average height range of about 170–185 cm. However, we understand that wheelchair users can be outside this average height or have specific weight considerations. Nordest Plus can customize the NEP device to ensure it fits you properly. If you are shorter or taller than average, or if you have a unique wheelchair setup, we will adjust the dimensions and configuration of the device to match your needs. Likewise, NEP can be tailored for various weight requirements to ensure smooth and safe operation. Our goal is that every user, regardless of their height or weight, can use NEP comfortably and gain the full benefits of the exercise it provides. We are happy to discuss custom solutions so that NEP is a perfect fit for you.
